At the Digital Switzerland advisory board meeting on 11 September 2024, participants discussed possible approaches to regulating artificial intelligence (AI). They agreed that the opportunities offered by AI should be exploited while seeking to minimise the risks for society. Over the course of two days, participants at the 2024 GovTech Hackathon worked intensively on solutions for a networked Switzerland. Before the participants could get hacking, they had to choose which of the 17 challenges they wanted to work on. They then set about tackling their chosen challenge intensively in teams for the next two days. On 8 December, the Federal Council took a number of decisions regarding digital transformation. Firstly, it approved two strategies that deal with the digital future of the Swiss authorities: the Digital Administration Switzerland Strategy and the Digital Federal Administration Strategy. Digital Switzerland Advisory Committee: Legislation should promote digitalisation

The Digital Switzerland Advisory Committee met on 20 November, with Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider chairing the meeting and Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr in attendance. At the meeting, representatives from politics, business, science and civil society discussed some of the legal hurdles faced in the digital transformation process. A favourable legal framework is essential to furthering the process of digitalisation.

Digital Switzerland Advisory Committee: Exchange on national programme for digitalisation in the healthcare sector

The Federal Council and Parliament want to drive forward digital transformation in the healthcare sector. At the meeting of the Digital Switzerland Advisory Committee on 17 August, chaired by President Alain Berset and attended by Federal Chancellor Walter Thurnherr, key players from the healthcare sector exchanged views on the problems of digitalisation and on the planned national DigiSanté programme.

The Federal Chancellery held its first GovTech Innovation Exchange. Participants from the federal administration worked together with Swiss start-ups to develop ideas and proposed solutions to concrete challenges.
